“‘Morning’ is the third play by British author Simon Stephens directed by Sebastian Nübling at the junges theater basel. The award-winning and successful German director has already shown his talent in ‘Herons’ and ‘Punk Rock’. Once more, it is sheer impossible to not get involved in this exciting encounter with the darker side of life”
Stephanie is 17 and her only friend Cat is leaving for boarding school. Her boyfriend bores her. At home, her mother is dying of cancer. And yet the whole city smells of sugar! Life feels dull to her. As if in a nightmare, she starts hammering on the sweet goo that surrounds her. But even her most radical actions do not seem to have any consequences. Walking on the dark sides of life is a dreamlike thrill, but it also raises nightmarish questions. After waking up, there is a lot to be done on the way home.
