“A play about sweet-smelling stories, two lonely socks and the power of nostalgia”
A Jacob’s nose is a nose that can catch and preserve every scent and smell. Summer rain, Granny’s warm embrace, sweaty sports shoes – these are just some of the things you can smell with it, no matter how far away the scent, the odour, the stench. A Jacob’s nose is a valuable gift and an annoying curse at the same time; nobody knows that better than Julien, since he has such a peculiar nose. Julien lives in the basement of a residential house, where he takes care of the residents’ clothes. Whenever he loads his old washing machine with pieces of clothing, he knows what their owners feel, because he has learnt to know most of their smells. One day, Annabel enters the basement. She smells like ‘street’, like ‘loneliness’ and ‘homelessness’ and turns Julien’s life upside down.
