spleen celebrates its 5th birthday!
From 7th to 12th February 2014, spleen*graz returns to Graz; the biennial international theatre festival for a young audience will be held for the fifth time.
For six days, Graz will be turned into a centre for performances aimed at young people. International theatre groups from 11 countries will offer a rich variety of performances in 7 different venues, including this year’s festival headquarters called spleen*hotspot.
Our youngest audience members will be excited to experience sweet-smelling and adventurous stories about imaginary places, enchanting creatures and the thrill of the forbidden.
Teenagers will find a programme giving them an insight into the variety of contemporary performance art for young people in Europe and beyond. They will be confronted with both personal stories close to their daily lives and political issues such as justice, democracy and resistance.
In addition, the participatory project spleen*trieb will give young artists the chance to turn their creative ideas and projects into reality. With experimental performances on this year’s theme “huge and tiny world”, they will be able to take new perspectives.
Additional events such as concerts, discussions and cultural mediation projects for schools complete the festival programme.
This year, six strange little papercraft characters called “neelps” spread the festival’s message throughout Graz. Build your own using this pattern!
